Here at Solutions Journalism Network, we are looking for voracious readers and bright, curious learners to join our Solutions Story Tracker database team The new Solutions Specialist roles are an exciting expansion of our work to review, tag, and curate solutions journalism for journalists, citizens, and actors across society. The Solutions Story Tracker, by the Solutions Journalism Network, curates high-quality reporting on responses to social problems. Robert Lyon, Clinical Assistant Professor of Management Communication and one of the 18 professors teaching this course, championed the integration of the Solutions Story Tracker into the curriculum, specifically. This website includes two types of stories: reported stories on Skoll Awardees and grantees that have been found in the Solutions Journalism Network’s Solutions Story Tracker®, and structured interviews conducted with representatives from organizations that have received support from the Skoll Foundation over the past 20 years. In Spring 2017, students in this course were offered a new tool to help them with their research papers: the Solutions Story Tracker. The website and database are regularly used by journalists, philanthropists, policy makers and change agents to learn more about promising responses to the world’s most pressing problems so that they can support, collaborate with, and shine a light on these ideas and models. This website was created through a partnership between the Skoll Foundation and Solutions Insights, an initiative of the Solutions Journalism Network (SJN), informed by our shared interest in identifying and interrogating what’s working - and what’s not - in the field of social innovation and supporting research and dialogue to advance problem-solving knowledge.
